The I-77 northbound on ramp from U.S. 21 Enterprise in Yadkin County will shut at 9 a.m. Tuesday so crews can take away outdated concrete after which rebuild the loop. The ramp will reopen March 14. A detour from the onramp will take site visitors into Jonesville through U.S. 21 Enterprise to Valley Street, after which to N.C. 67 and onto I-77.
The closure is a part of a $49.5 million undertaking that launched final spring to revitalize 5 miles of I-77 and ramps within the Elkin space. Greater than 70 % of the undertaking is accomplished so far; full completion is on schedule for Sept. 1, 2021.
Among the many steps but to come back within the I-77 undertaking is to clean any bumps within the newly reconstructed floor. That step will happen on the very finish of building this summer time.
“The diamond-grinding is the final main process on this undertaking,” stated N.C. Division of Transportation spokesman David Uchiyama. “The ultimate floor will resemble different completed concrete sections of I-77 within the space.”
Uchiyama reminded drivers to decelerate and keep away from distractions when driving in work zones. For real-time journey data, go to DriveNC.gov.
